Die Sellerie, Vienna
A lot of the places I've encountered on my travels I've come across by way of reputation or recommendation, which has been so helpful in narrowing in on exactly what to see and do. However, I was lucky enough to stumble upon Die Sellerie myself, which makes it feel like even more of a treasure. This beautiful shop is the mastermind of four young graphic designers who stock it full of endearing handmade, local and ethically produced products, many of which were designed by the owners themselves. As it is a small scale production, the shop is staffed by the owners and is only open select days of the week, to allow them to work full time elsewhere. I think the shop resonated so much with me as it's exactly the type of thing Charlotte and I have talked about doing one day and made me feel like maybe it could actually be a possibility.
As there's not much room in my bag I wasn't able to buy everything I would have liked but I did make out with a few postcards and a bottle of wine to share with Charlotte, if it's able to make it with me all the way until I reach South Africa. The guys at the shop were super sweet and pointed me in the direction of an incredibly charming (with just the right amount of kitsch) 50s style cafe down the street, aptly named Espresso, which I also would definitely recommend stopping into while you're in the neighbourhood.
